Making the Most of Your Mattress

Posted on Tuesday Apr 24, 2012

Having a good mattress is important; no one is going to argue with that. There are definitely different qualities of varying importance in a “good” mattress, so we’ll cover that too.

It is interesting that a good mattress will probably not be one that you find yourself thinking about durring the day. If you ever have waking thoughts about your mattress you are probably thinking about what an uncomfortable piece of junk it is and about how much your back hurts.

While money can’t buy happiness, it can definitely help you come in sweet unconscious contact with a luxurious mattress that is probably more thoroughly engineered than  was your first car. However, if you are like most people who can’t fix all their problems by sipping liquid gold out of a silver spoon, then you should stop searching for the perfect mattress and settle for the perfect mattress for your situation.

Money is a major factor in purchasing a mattress. Buyers should plan on anywhere from $150 to $250 for a queen sized box spring set and more for additional comforts such as memory foam, pillow tops, firmness controls and others.

One good way to purchase a mattress is to consider what you absolutely need and what you aren’t so concerned with. For example, it matters to some that a mattress be manufactured with organic materials, and it is preferable to others that a mattress not exceed a certain price.

Everyone wants a soft mattress. If you are not too impressed with the price of memory foam mattresses but you want a step-up from a box-spring then consider a memory foam mattress pad that you can put underneath your mattress cover and sheets.
